On Wednesday, January 7, 2015, there will be a St. Rafael School family data night.

Everyone is encouraged to attend.  It will take place between 5:30-7:30pm in Francis Hall in the Lincoln Ave.

This very important meeting is to help parents understand the data (information) that the teachers

receive from the MAP tests. This information is then used in the learning process for the students. Mrs. Ettlie,

Ms. Neiman and Ms. Klein are leading the meeting.  They will explain how this information is used in the

classroom. Parents will find out how to assist their children at home.  We strongly encourage ALL families to

attend so that questions and concerns about our children’s education can be answered.  Since this meeting is

scheduled the week we return from Christmas vacation, we are giving enough notice so everyone can plan to

attend.  Light snacks will be served.

Celebrating Our Faith and Our Family Traditions

We celebrated All Saints and All Souls days with a beautiful all school mass. The entire school has been working on a unit in the art room to investigate the history of our patron saint, St. Rafael the Archangel. They have studied his presence in the book of Tobit and come to understand his patron and archangel symbols. Ask your child what they are and how they came to be! You will be amazed at their knowledge. It is a good opportunity to share these Biblical stories at home. The students are completing portraits of St. Rafael so that we may create a school poster of our combined portraits. Stay tuned for upcoming glimpses of their portraits. They are fantastic!

We also studied the family traditions of honoring our departed loved ones with the Day of the Dead, Dia De Los Muertos, celebrations. Two of our wonderful parents helped the teachers and students to create ofrendas for both campus locations. Thank you to Mrs. Miranda (South Campus) and Mrs. Reyes-Becceril (North Campus) for your effort and creativity.
Thank you to our Alverno Art Education Field student, Ms. Castro, for creating this beautiful bulletin board display.
